Real conversation in the Jeep while taking Creed to basketball practice this evening:

Creed: Dad when I’m in the NBA will I make a million dollars? If I make a lot of money, I can take care of you and mom.

Me: Hah. Maybe.

Creed: Dad? What’s the most expensive car in the world?

Me: Oh I don’t know. Maybe a Bugatti?

Creed: Is a mansion or a castle more expensive?

Me: Probably a castle.

Creed: Dad, what’s the most expensive thing in the world?

Me: ....

Creed: ....

Me: I want to share a life lesson with you bud.

Creed: like what?

Me: The most expensive thing in the world is Time.

Creed: Time?

Me: They don’t make it anymore. The Time I used to have is long gone, priceless. It’s irreplaceable, and no matter how much I want it, I can’t find it anywhere. What little I do have left, I’d rather save it, and hold onto it for as long as I can.

Creed: Dad, you can have some of mine if you want it.

Me: Nah little man. I love watching the way you spend yours.
